Observation Portfolio
Observation number 6:
Observation #6:
In my final observation method I chose to use a Rating Scale and Anecdotal Record. I am choosing to focus mainly on the Rating Scale to fully describe the emotions and acts of two specific children in this video. The first child is in a gray t -shirt and blue jeans and the second child I chose to observe is in a light pink shirt who is sitting in front of the classroom. This video is about 20 minutes long and from the YouTube channel.
Child #1- Grey shirt and blue jeans, sitting in the back of the class.
Behavior #1: Moderate/Somewhat sad
Behavior #2: Same as first behavior
Behavior #3: Excited and Happy
Behavior #4: Somewhat integrated and happy
Behavior #5: Moderate *same as mood
Side Notes:
-
The little boys mood is moderately happy, but telling from his actions he doesn’t seem like he’s happy.
-
Because of his actions
-
All of these moods happen through out the course of 20 minutes long.
-
First half of the video
Child #2-little girl sitting in the front of the room with a pink shirt on
Behavior #1: Happy to begin with
Behavior #2: Happy and Excited

Behavior #4: VERY Happy

Side Notes:
-Always engaged!!!!
- She is always staying in a calm mood, except when the teacher starts to do a fun activity she gets really excited and happy.
- This is the second half of the video clip.
The behaviors of the two pre-school children, the ages of about 4 and 5, have a normal behavior and mood standings. It is normal for these two children because at their ages a child is learning hoe to interact with other kids their age, and it they’re shy it’s a good thing. Then we know these two children and other children are leaning how to do something on their own and this is big for four year olds. It’s also early in the morning for these kids to be up, so for them to be in a little gloomy mood a some points is okay because they’re tired and just waking up. Or maybe they are shy. I think a teacher should use this type of observation method when observing children at any age because thus type of method is a good kind to tell how someone is behaving and feeling mood wise visually.
